Jo Sharples
Architect
BA (Hons) Architecture, DipArch, ARB

Over the past five years, Jo has delivered numerous projects to critical acclaim, often working with existing structures repurposing them for a new lease of life. Most notably whilst at Caruso St John Architects, she worked on the The Mies van der Rohe Award nominated, Lille Gastronomique, which converted huge (29,000 m2) industrial steel sheds into a cookery school and student housing. In her latter years in London with Casswell Bank Architects, she converted a former MoD house at Shingle Street into a tantalisingly raw coastal retreat. Finally, she detailed the interiors of Damien Hirst’s new Soho studio, before returning north to set up Editional Studio in 2018.

Jo completed her RIBA Part 1 at Manchester School of Architecture with a First Class Honours and later her Parts 2 and 3 at London Metropolitan University and the Architecture Association, graduating from both with Distinction. Alongside practice Jo continues to work in academia as a visiting critic for The University of Cambridge, London Metropolitan and The University of Nottingham. She has been invited as a guest speaker at the World Design Festival in Helsinki and tutored two weeks of building workshops whilst in residence.

She runs an MArch studio at The University of Sheffield.
